Charlie climbs his first mountain

The beauty of living in the mountains is the ability to walk out the door and hike to a peak just behind the house. From the top and its 360 degree view, you can see the snow covered continental divide, the nearby reservoir, nearby peaks, and the forest below.

How can you beat that?

Have a new hiking partner along for his first hike. I wasn’t sure if my ten week old puppy would be able to reach the top, but he was enthusiastically following the trail, and with a little help, he made it over fallen trees all the way to turtle rock! He also did an excellent job of navigating back home!

I'm a reading specialist from Chicago, now living in the beauty of the Roosevelt National Forest in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. My first book "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" features a creative and curious girl who loves science, her little brother, and her very patient parents. I'm currently writing a MG novel and several picture books with STEM elements and dogs.

    1. Thanks! My first dog would sit down in the middle of a walk and I’d pick him up and carry him home, so he basically trained me. My second dog, Riley, was a great walking buddy.
Charlie is going to be big so I’m sure he’ll be quite an athlete.
I wasn’t sure how far he’d make it, but he was energetic the whole way and was happy to be on an adventure!
