Solstice and the (almost) full moon

As the shortest day of the year turns from daylight to darkness, the moon rises.

This beautiful gibbous moon, just one day shy of a full moon, brightens the night. This was the inspiration for Aliana Reaches for the Moon.

Look for more photos of the moon tomorrow.

  1. Hi Laura, well this evening I’ve been looking through my telescope up at the moon, and even though a little tricky I took some photographs through the telescope eyepiece….……… they’re ok, lol will never make it into a copy of ‘Nature’ but I’ll post them tomorrow. Viewing was a little problematic simply because of the amount of water vapour in the sky and the wispy clouds floating by. All good fun 🙂

    1. It’s interesting to try new things with the camera and occasionally even editing. I try not to post altered photos except the occasional lightening up so it’s clearer. Not colors of sunrise or sunset, because it’s unnecessary. I can’t wait to see them.
What does the A stand for? In my mind, it’s Alan.
