Happy Book Birthday to me and Aliana – Giveaway

Today I’m celebrating two years of ALIANA REACHES FOR THE MOON, being out in the world. One lucky winner will receive a signed copy. Comment on the post, RT, and share on Facebook to be entered in the giveaway.

What were you like at the age of your target audience?

I loved reading, finding insects, being my older sister’s sidekick, and spending time with my Grandma.. I never watched TV and my favorite place to visit was the library.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by so many things but the top five are: nature, children, dogs, travel, and great writing.

What’s one thing you hope your readers take away from your books?

With ALIANA REACHES FOR THE MOON, I’m so happy children have been inspired to be curious, creative, and even messy. That’s what science and experimentation is all about. I have had countless parents and teachers tell me, they appreciate that ALIANA gives them permission to allow their children to explore.

What can we look forward to next?

I have several picture books that I’ve been querying and am trying to draft a middle grade novel. I have an outline and some of a beat sheet written but I need to start writing! I am enjoying working with other authors and illustrators via my blog to help them promote their work. There’s so much talent in the kid lit community and I’m grateful for the connections and friendships I’ve made.

I'm a reading specialist from Chicago, now living in the beauty of the Roosevelt National Forest in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. My first book "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" features a creative and curious girl who loves science, her little brother, and her very patient parents. I'm currently writing a MG novel and several picture books with STEM elements and dogs.

  1. I enjoy reading books like this and aspire to one day have my own published. Happy book birthday! The library was and still is my favorite place to visit and now it’s a valuable resource for my mentor text study too.

    1. Danielle, thank you for reading and wishing you the best on your publishing journey. I love my library here and am a volunteer tutor there, going on a year doing it virtually. I miss picking books off the shelf. Good luck in the giveaway!

    1. Thanks, Melissa! I’m a former classroom teacher and currently a reading specialist working with students one-on-one during the pandemic. I visited a lot of schools doing author visits before last March. If you’re interested in a virtual visit, let me know. Good luck in the giveaway!

  2. Happy Book Birthday to you & Aliana– I’m so glad I came across the tweet because I was unfamiliar with this book, but now I have added it to my wishlist for our Home Library- I think my girls would LOVE this story & it will be great practice for them as they are learning to read more independently– a book we can read together that will actually hold Mommy and her girls interest– a story we will all appreciate!! I can’t wait to see what your next book project will be!! Thanks for this opportunity and for creating such great literary contributions!!!
