I’m very excited to share a special Friendsgiving post full of book joy with some friends from my promotion group PictureBookGold! Each of us is offering a book giveaway as we give reflect on what we are thankful for and what we are looking forward to in the year ahead.
As always, please comment on the post to enter the giveaway and share on your social media to help us spread the word to share book joy for these fantastic books and the generous authors.

I’m thankful for all the wonderful friends and support in the writing community and especially this week as I’m lucky to spend time with Lisa Rogers and will meet so many of my virtual friends in person at the NCTE conference in Boston! And of course, I’m grateful for all of the love my new book, An Accidental Hero: A Mostly True Wombat Story received in 2024 from reviewers and friends.
In 2025 Book-wise, I’m looking forward to meeting more readers and visiting schools. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to more time with Charlie and his friends, some travel, and hopefully some productive writing and maybe book news.

I’m thankful for the support of my family, friends, and writing community. I’m thankful for the six weeks of wonderful time I had in China this summer with my siblings and old friends. I’m also thankful for good health and the beautiful places I traveled.
In 2025, I’m looking forward to sharing Grace Lee Boggs: Gardens of Hope (to be released on 3/6/2025) with the world. I’m also looking forward to spending time with my family, especially my first grandson, due in December. Grace Lee Boggs was an incredible personality, an influential thinker, philosopher, and an inspiring social activist, who lived to be 100. So proud to be able to tell the story of one of her most famous endeavors. Today, I would love to share one of her wise quotes, “The only way to survive is by taking care of one another.”

I am thankful for so much in my life. If I narrow it down and focus on the book world, I’m thankful for the children’s book community (including you Laura), for readers, for my books, for everyone I’ve collaborated with, for the inspirations behind the Butternut series including young readers, nature, food, everyone who works to provide food for us, and more… On a personal level, I do want to add that I’m thankful for my family, my friends, my home and I could go on and on… I am very grateful.
In reference to my books in 2025, I am looking forward to more Butternut books on the way. BUTTERNUT & BOBO (book 4 of the series) is available in Singapore and several other countries already. And, I can’t wait for readers in the U.S. to get the opportunity to read it in 2025. Plus, there are Butternut series paperback editions that are in the works. And, another project that is not in Butternut’s supermarket world, that is in the works too. It’s a dog story and I’m a huge dog fan. Lots to look forward too!

I am thankful for the opportunities to work on creative projects and collaborate with other talented creatives this year and look forward to creating more stories in 2025.

I am thankful for my hound’s loud, noisy, and beautiful music, and I look forward to sharing three inspiring new books with young readers in 2025!
I am thankful for the chance to have spent the eve with you and Lisa Rogers over a nice meal!
