Today we are celebrating a book birthday and we all know that usually means cake for breakfast! Do. you really need my permission to eat what you want for breakfast? I’m going to be having a flourless chocolate cake to celebrate. K. Marcus has written a laugh-out-loud STEM graphic novel picture book FRANKENSTEIN’S MATZAH: A PASSOVER PARODY, illustrated by Sam Loman. She combines science fiction, science experiments, the Passover story, and so many jokes you’re going to have to read it a few times to catch them all. If you’ve celebrated Passover all your life or never been to a seder, you are going to want to read this book. What were you like at the age of your target audience?

I was a goofy little kid! I loved to be outside and get as dirty as possible. I mixed mud potions, collected worms, lightning bugs and all sorts of other creatures. I also loved animals, creating things with my hands, reading, drawing, and writing.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by the natural world.  I read a lot, love all types of music.  I try to stay open, curious, and try new things. My book was inspired by a podcast! 

What do you hope readers will take away from your book?

I have two: Keep trying. Be true to who you are.

What’s next for you?

I’m going to be busy for the time being with my book launch and I also have some manuscripts that I am excited about submitting. Fingers crossed!

    1. Rondi, it’s truly amazing! I was laughing and there are science experiments right in the story, plus the Passover Seder is happening throughout. I’m not sure how she made it all work! Thanks for commenting and good luck in the giveaway!

  3. I’m always inspired by authors who figure out how to combine STEM with other areas, including religious celebrations. Science experiments are always fun and welcome in my home. Thank you for the interview and chance to win a copy of this fun book that will be read many times.
