Winner Announcement 10/17/24

Congratulations Ellen Leventhal, you won the giveaway from Kim A. Larson, author of GOAT’S BOAT WON’T FLOAT, illustrated by Gozde Eyce. Ellen, please email me at ljrwritenow @ gmail.com with your mailing address so that the your prize can be mailed. Thank you, Kim for your generous giveaway!

Readers, don’t forget to read my interview with Danielle Sharkan, author of SHARING SHALOM, and comment on the post to enter the giveaway! I’m working on a special Thanksgiving giveaway, but more on that next month.

October is #NationalFirePreventionMonth and to honor this I’ve been sharing one Amazon review every day of my latest book AN ACCIDENTAL HERO: A MOSTLY TRUE WOMBAT STORY, illustrated by Debbie Palen on my social media. I’m so grateful for these wonderful reviews. They help spread the word so that other readers learn about the book. If you’ve read it, please take the time to write a review. It means a lot to read the kind words people have shared about our book. Thank you!

I'm a reading specialist and award winning educator from Chicago. While living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for nine years, I spent time hiking on the trails with my Goldendoodle Charlie and friends, writing, working in a literacy program at the Boulder Public Library, and mentoring writers and teachers. I love visiting schools. My books combine STEM and Kindness. "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" a picture book that draws inspiration from the moon and the curiosity of children, inviting children to be creative, explore, and experiment. "An Accidental Hero: A Mostly True Wombat Story" a picture book told in the form of a newscast which skillfully balances the serious subject of forest fires with compassion and humor to help children navigate this important topic through the real events of 2020. I moved to Northern New Jersey in 2025 and am working on new projects.
