Today I have a wonderful new picture book to share FAIRY GODBUBBIE SHABBAT, published by Intergalactic Afikoman, September 9, 2025 and an interview with author-illustrator Ann Koffsky. FAIRY GODBUBBIE SHABBAT is a fun reminder that we need to unplug and spend time as a family! You can read my review . She is the author and illustrator of over 40 books, many of them have been PJ Library selections. Her nonfiction book PING-PONG SHABBAT: The True Story of Champion Estee Ackerman, illustrated byAbigail Rajunov and published by Little Bee Books September 10, 2024 tells the true story of an eleven year old girl facing a difficult choice: her championship match scheduled on the Sabbath. You can read the book and find out more ~~ I don’t ever spoil the ending! Another 2025 nonfiction release from Ann, THE PEDDLER AND THE PRESIDENT, illustrated by Pedro Rodríguez and published by Apples & Honey Press is an inspiring story of friendship and speaking up for what you believe in. Eddie was a store clerk, a traveling salesman, and a soldier. Even though they had little in common, Eddie Jacobson and Harry S. Truman formed a friendship which lasted from their teenage years through the time of Truman’s presidency. After World War II, there was an international discussion about whether the Jewish people should establish a new country in their ancient homeland. Eddie spoke up, asking his friend to support the idea.
As you can see, Ann Koffsky is an extremely talented and versatile author- illustrator. She has generously offered one lucky winner (US addresses only) a copy of FAIRY GODBUBBIE SHABBAT. Please comment on the blogpost to enter the giveaway.

What were you like at the age of your target audience or main character?
When I was the age of my main character, I was pretty quiet, but also very, very aware of the world around me, taking everything in. Even at that age, I already had a sketch book that was constantly drawing in and filling up with strange characters with funny faces.

What inspires you?
Big ideas, kids, vivid colors, museums, over the top jewelery, hand painted shoes, other illustrators, other writers, other stories, history, a great speech, Torah, educators, librarians, my kids ( including my daughter-in-law!) my husband, my friends, flowers, autumn leaves, decorative scrollwork, mosaics, and more!
What’s something you hope readers take away from this book?
Joy! And just a little bit of thinking about something just a little bit differently than they might have before they read the book.

What do readers have to look forward to from you?
I’ve got three new ones coming in 2026!
WHAT EMMA WROTE (from Apples and Honey Press) about Emma Lazarus.
BLAZING HUMOR, (From Intergalactic Afikoman) about Mel Brooks
MATZAH PIZZA (from Intergalactic Afikoman).
Plus in 2027, my graphic novel, THE STORY OF PURIM ACCORDING TO HAMAN will be coming out with PJ publishing.

Marcia, it’s really a fun book! I was impressed and I think it works for nonJewish families who want to break away from technology too! Thanks for reading and good luck in the giveaway!
