I'm a reading specialist and award winning educator from Chicago. While living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for nine years, I spent time hiking on the trails with my Goldendoodle Charlie and friends, writing, working in a literacy program at the Boulder Public Library, and mentoring writers and teachers. I love visiting schools. My books combine STEM and Kindness. "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" a picture book that draws inspiration from the moon and the curiosity of children, inviting children to be creative, explore, and experiment. "An Accidental Hero: A Mostly True Wombat Story" a picture book told in the form of a newscast which skillfully balances the serious subject of forest fires with compassion and humor to help children navigate this important topic through the real events of 2020. I moved to Northern New Jersey in 2025 and am working on new projects. View more posts
It really does take your breath away!!! This being poetry month and all your readers should consider using these photos and some of the others you posted in order to inspire their kids to write some poetry (including free verse). “When I first saw the snow capped guardians of the road west, I stopped and looked in awe. And so my western adventure began” Written by me just now, being reminded of when I first saw the Rockies. Happy Reading and Writing- Dr. B.

Thanks for sharing your poetry.
I’d love to read more poetry inspired by my photography. That would be quite an honor. These pictures were taken near where I live; a view I enjoy on a daily basis.

My afterschool class with kids is done for the year. When I resume in the fall I’ll make it a point to have the kids write some poetry around some of your pictures and share that with you. My brother-in-law lives in Colorado Springs and I really will never forget seeing the mountains for the first time when we went to visit him. Fantastic! Keep up your good work for literacy. The pictures are always amazing.
