Continental Divide

“It takes your breath away.”

Published by authorlaurablog

I'm a reading specialist from Chicago, now living in the beauty of the Roosevelt National Forest in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. My first book "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" is about a creative, curious, kind and messy girl who loves science and her very patient parents. I'm currently writing a YA novel about a family broken apart by a secret and a misunderstanding. Future books in the Aliana series will include dealing with forest fires, learning about clouds and animal habitats.

  1. It really does take your breath away!!! This being poetry month and all your readers should consider using these photos and some of the others you posted in order to inspire their kids to write some poetry (including free verse). “When I first saw the snow capped guardians of the road west, I stopped and looked in awe. And so my western adventure began” Written by me just now, being reminded of when I first saw the Rockies. Happy Reading and Writing- Dr. B.

    1. Thanks for sharing your poetry.
I’d love to read more poetry inspired by my photography. That would be quite an honor. These pictures were taken near where I live; a view I enjoy on a daily basis.

  2. My afterschool class with kids is done for the year. When I resume in the fall I’ll make it a point to have the kids write some poetry around some of your pictures and share that with you. My brother-in-law lives in Colorado Springs and I really will never forget seeing the mountains for the first time when we went to visit him. Fantastic! Keep up your good work for literacy. The pictures are always amazing.
