living his best life

my own snow angel
I'm a reading specialist and award winning educator from Chicago. While living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for nine years, I spent time hiking on the trails with my Goldendoodle Charlie and friends, writing, working in a literacy program at the Boulder Public Library, and mentoring writers and teachers. I love visiting schools. My books combine STEM and Kindness. "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" a picture book that draws inspiration from the moon and the curiosity of children, inviting children to be creative, explore, and experiment. "An Accidental Hero: A Mostly True Wombat Story" a picture book told in the form of a newscast which skillfully balances the serious subject of forest fires with compassion and humor to help children navigate this important topic through the real events of 2020. I moved to Northern New Jersey in 2025 and am working on new projects. View more posts

Thanks, Lynette! ❄️ Charlie is a big fan! We were out in the snow again today and he couldn’t have been happier!

Hahahaha! He’s actually 1/2 standard poodle and 1/2 English flat coat retriever but i know what you mean! He has spent several hours in the last few days enjoying as much time as I can give him to roll in the snow and lay (lie?) with his face buried in a snow bank or run around at the dog park. He really loves the snow. Today we walked to a place with a nice pristine mound of snow so he could roll and make snow angels and I could stand on the sidewalk. Two women who were walking behind us stopped to watch him and thought he was so funny!
He paused, smiled at them and went back to his happy place! 😅

He sounds like such a happy pup! Our dog is not a fan of the rain or snow, LOL, but loves getting toweled off afterwards.

He is! And he loves that too. He used to come in and walk into the bathtub. Sadly in this house he can’t do that but now he comes in and goes to a big rug in the basement and waits for his feet to be cleaned off. He really understands the process. 😊

I’m sure! I know the lack of snow is a problem for so many reasons. Here they don’t know what to do with all of it. 🤦🏼♀️

Thanks, Rosi! He’s a cutie and he is soaking up every last moment of playing in the snow that he can while it’s here and before he gets groomed this week!
