Much of the rest of the country is reveling in warmer weather after a rough winter. We are in drought conditions and happy for a day of snow. Yep, it’s May 2!
We are in high danger drought conditions. In addition to the need for moisture, I love the peacefulness of snow and the way it feels as if I’m in a snow globe. Also, knowing it will melt in a day or two makes this spring snow even more welcome.

I'm a reading specialist and award winning educator from Chicago. While living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for nine years, I spent time hiking on the trails with my Goldendoodle Charlie and friends, writing, working in a literacy program at the Boulder Public Library, and mentoring writers and teachers. I love visiting schools. My books combine STEM and Kindness. "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" a picture book that draws inspiration from the moon and the curiosity of children, inviting children to be creative, explore, and experiment. "An Accidental Hero: A Mostly True Wombat Story" a picture book told in the form of a newscast which skillfully balances the serious subject of forest fires with compassion and humor to help children navigate this important topic through the real events of 2020. I moved to Northern New Jersey in 2025 and am working on new projects.

Being a Wisconsin born and raised girl, I’ve come to have a similar admiration for snow. That photo of the trees with just a dusting feels like home.

I’m from the Chicago area so I’ve had snow all my life. The best thing about spring snow is you know it’s fleeting.

Lucky you.
I had dreams that it is snowing outside when I was a kid.
I still think it would be fun

Snow is magical unless you’re driving. 😉
I was on a trip 3 years ago in Austria and a woman in our group who had only seen snow once before was so excited when it snowed she went out to dance in it with all the joy of a child! It was lovely.

Thanks, Amy. I know not everyone is happy to see snow but complaining doesn’t help and it’s not bothering me.

Yes, but spring in the Rocky Mountains can be snow one day and 70 degrees the next!
