Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving!
I'm a reading specialist and award winning educator from Chicago. While living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for nine years, I spent time hiking on the trails with my Goldendoodle Charlie and friends, writing, working in a literacy program at the Boulder Public Library, and mentoring writers and teachers. I love visiting schools. My books combine STEM and Kindness. "Aliana Reaches for the Moon" a picture book that draws inspiration from the moon and the curiosity of children, inviting children to be creative, explore, and experiment. "An Accidental Hero: A Mostly True Wombat Story" a picture book told in the form of a newscast which skillfully balances the serious subject of forest fires with compassion and humor to help children navigate this important topic through the real events of 2020. I moved to Northern New Jersey in 2025 and am working on new projects. View more posts

🙂 You may remember I once told you I was an Apollo Moon landing geek, well I also own a telescope and watch the stars and I’m loving the photos……………. I’ve taken pictures through the telescope eyepiece but they’re no as good as yours did you use a moon filter?

I do remember. 😊 Thank you for your kind words. My camera has a 720x zoom and I take photos at different intervals of zoom. The ones that show craters are at the highest level of zoom but I also enjoy the ones that are less crisp but include the mountains or trees for perspective.
I don’t use any filters and I post unaltered photos unless stated otherwise.
If I may ask, do you like the close up ones (moon only) better or the ones with the mountains?

🙂 I like the mountain with moon composition, but I have to say I cannot get over the fact you have a camera with 720x zoom………………. awesome!!

Thank you. We have a difference of opinion in my house. I like the composition with the mountains even though it’s not as clear of the moon.
