August in the Rocky Mountains is a wonderful time to explore. Many flowers are in full bloom, their vibrant colors putting on a show. Even the deer are impressed.
Fog on a Sunny Day
Weather in the mountains is ever changing. In the midst of a sunny day the fog rolled in, hiding the nearby peaks. One of my favorite poems by Carl Sandburg: Fog The fog comes in on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on.
Brainard Lake at Sunset
As the weekend winds down, those of us who want to squeeze the last drops of fun from it enjoy the sunset as we look for moose. Tonight there were none, but the magnificent sky, wildflowers, and a lone duck in the lake were enough.
